Exit Realty Charlotte County has been serving its clients proudly since 1874. Although over the years much has changed, the present owners continue to boast the name of Guy R. Day & Son Ltd. and realize the company from its infancy, was built upon the basic principle of fair and honest business practices. Their main goal is to follow that basic principle.
Here is our past
In 1874, J.T. Whit lock established a General Insurance Agency. Whitlock was also one of the founders of the St. Stephen Bank. He first established his business in the Windsor Hotel Building, later Buchanan Bros. Furniture Store. On Whitlock's death, the business was taken over by his nephew, William T. Whitlock. In 1922, he was joined by Guy R. Daye and operated under the name of Daye & Whitlock. Previously, Guy R. Daye was with Ganongs as Office Manager. Their office was in the old Johnson building where the Royal Bank parking lot is now. Whitlock left the business in 1941 to pursue other interests and Raymond Day joined his father at this time. The Business was changed to Guy R. Day & Son Ltd.
After the fire in 1952, the office was moved to the old Johnson Hotel building. In 1962 the business was again forced to move due to fire and was temporarily located in the J. Clark Building. Guy and Raymond bought the Farmer Store on King Street and converted the building into a modern office, where the business presently resides. Tim Eagan joined the firm in 1971 and was later appointed Vice President of the company. Daryl Spires came to the firm in 1981 as Sales Manager. In 1989, Tim Eagan and Daryl Spires purchased controlling interest in the firm. In 2008, Daryl Spires and his wife Chris purchased all shares and Brandon Mcgee became Sales Manager of the firm.
Real Estate sales have been promoted throughout the years and some of our salespeople are amongst the most experienced and successful in the area. Passenger tickets were also sold on Steam Ships and this was the start of the Travel Agency. When Trans Canada Airlines operated out of Pennfield, Guy R. Day & Son Ltd. became the first airline appointed agent in all of New Brunswick. A few years ago, the decision was made to sell off the travel agency and focus on general insurance and real estate.
The Real Estate Department has grown to one of the largest Real Estate offices in Charlotte County and has proven to be an unstoppable contender with its highly sought after formula of residual income and empathy-oriented business model.
